In Awe and Wonder
Camping at the ocean is one of my most favorite things to do in the whole world. There’s nothing like bonding with family and friends for four fun-filled days. The smell of camp fires, the sound of the surf, playing games, telling stories and singing around the fire, makes it complete.
As summer comes to a close, this is my time of reflection. I get to spend time on my favorite bench overlooking the beach and talking to God. Sometimes it’s all about what has been happening in my life the past year. Some years I am nothing but grateful for everything He has done for me and my family. However, some conversations are sad, some are hard, some are painful but my time there has always been good and healing for my soul. Sometimes it’s just all about Him and His creation.
“The whole earth is filled with awe at your wonders; where morning dawns, where evening fades, you call forth songs of joy.” Psalm 65:8
“God saw all that he had made, and it was very good. And there was evening, and there was morning – the sixth day. Thus the heavens and the earth were completed in all their vast array. By the seventh day God had finished the work he had been doing; so on the seventh day he rested from all his work.” Genesis 1:31-Genesis 2:3
This bench is a place that Jesus sits right next to me and ministers to my soul. It’s a place where I can ask the hard questions, “Are you there, Lord?” “What do I do now, Lord?” “Why???” Or a place where I can just be quiet and say, “Speak, for you servant is listening.”
My hope is that you all have a place like this; a place where you can go to get away from the hustle and bustle of your lives. A place where God is there waiting for you. It could be as close as your back porch or a chair in your prayer closet. Or it can be as far away as the ocean or mountains. It doesn’t matter where it is, God is wherever you are.
“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord you God will be with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9
Ladies – I encourage you to find your quiet place. Find that spot where you can reflect and let God minister to your souls. He knows what you are going through right now. He is right beside you ready to carry you when you are too weary to keep going. I don’t know where you are in your journey right now but God does. He is there to give you peace.
“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” John 14:27
